TGJ 2A/G - TRAINING / DEMONSTRATION VIDEO
Training or demonstration videos are often seen and used on network television (e.g.,
cooking shows) or in both large and small organizations (e.g., how to put parts together
on an engine). They are used to teach people how to do things.
A training/demonstration video should include these key features:
1. An introduction
(tell the audience what you're going to tell them)
2. The main part
(where you tell the audience how to do the task)
3. The summary
("tell them what you've told them"). Always try and use graphics at the end to help
the audience remember the main points of the task they've learned.
You should also remember these things when you're doing your video:
1. Each step should be explained simply, clearly, and logically
2. Use closeups
when you're explaining how to do something
3. Keep the camera's microphone close to the host
to ensure good quality sound.
Assignment

2. Write an analysis that fully explains in narrative form (NOT POINT FORM):
a) How was this production different from the others you've done?
b) What steps did you take to make sure your audience understood the
video's content?
c) Any challenges? What would you do differently next time?
d) Has this been a good learning experience? Why/why not?
